After participating in multiple editions of the annual International Ballet Star Gala in Taipei and Taichung, Friedemann will be giving his first ever full-length performance in Taiwan on 26th October, reprising one of his most popular roles as Romeo in John Cranko's celebrated masterpiece. Friedemann's performance of Romeo & Juliet with Stuttgart Ballet at the Weiwuying National Center for the Arts will also be the first time he is dancing in Kaohsiung.
For the Stuttgart Ballet's tour to Beijing in 2019, Friedemann will be dancing his critically acclaimed role of Onegin on the opening night on 1st November. He is looking forward to perform this masterpiece by John Cranko for the Chinese audience, and to being back on stage in China after nearly three years.
John Cranko's celebrated masterpiece Onegin will be on TV on 30 & 31 December! Onegin is one Friedemann's most cherished roles, and he hopes this festive season screening on ARTE will bring equal delight to viewers discovering this dramatic ballet for the first time and those who have already experienced it on stage or on the big screen. Filmed on the occasion of its 50th anniversary last year, this Stuttgart Ballet production features Friedemann as "the most elegant and elegiac Onegin of all time" (Suedwest Presse), and is also available for purchase from Amazon on Blu-Ray and DVD.
In Germany: 31 Dec at 00h30
In France: 31 Dec at 01h20

Friedemann will make his debut in Liège in the 6th edition of the Gala Hivernales de la Danse, at the Manège de la Caserne Fonckon 10th & 11th March. Friedemann will be dancing with fellow Stuttgart Ballet étoile Alicia Amatriain two duets: Mauro Bigonzetti's Kazimir's Colours and the Swan Lake Act II pas de deux.
Friedemann's first performance of 2018 will be in the Stuttgart Ballet Encounters double-bill: Jerome Robbin's multi-layered masterpiece Dances at a Gathering – a nuanced distillation of the spectrum of human interaction - and John Cranko’s ode to friendship Initials R.B.M.E. (dedicated to former Stuttgart Ballet principal dancers Richard Cragun, Birgit Keil, Marcia Haydee, and Egon Madsen). Friedemann will perform in both revivals for the opening night on 13 January. More performances to follow. Details & tickets
Friedemann Vogel and Alicia Amatriain - his longtime dance partner and fellow Stuttgart Ballet étoile – first started dancing together at the John Cranko Schule when they were just 14 years old. It is therefore with great pleasure and anticipation that Friedemann joins Alicia & Friends in her hometown, San Sebastián on 10th and 11th November, to perform a mixture of classical and contemporary repertoire. Incidentally, this will be Friedemann’s debut in San Sebastián.
