Danza & Danza Award 2025

Friedemann is thrilled to receive an award from the Danza & Danza Magazine in recognition of his choreography and performance of his first full-length co-creation with Thomas Lempertz "Die Seele am Faden/Soul Threads" at the 2024 Spoleto Festival. 

"The sense of freedom I feel when everything I dance depends on me is inexplicable".

Soul Threads for Spoleto Festival 2024 Italy

Friedemann is thrilled to announce that "Soul Threads" - his first full-length co-creation with Thomas Lempertz - will have its Italian premiere in the 2024 Spoleto Festival, following two runs in Germany at the Kleist Forum. The performances will take place from 5 to 7 July at San Simone and tickets will go on sale from 27 March.

As always, Friedemann is delighted to be performing in Japan again, this time as a special guest of Paris Opera Ballet étoiles in Le Grand Gala . Friedemann will be partnering Amandine Albisson, Leonore Baulac, and Ludmila Pagliero to dance a range of classical and contemporary pieces from 30 July to 5 August at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, Nagoya and Osaka.

The Prix de Lausanne Gala

Winning the Prix de Lausanne in 1997 was a life-changing moment for Friedemann, and being invited to be a jury member for this prestigious competition in 2022 was an absolute honour. Friedemann couldn’t be more pleased to perform at the very special 50th anniversary gala together with so many illustrious colleagues on 5th February 2023 at the Beaulieu Theatre.

Friedemann has always relished being involved in the creative process, and his first collaboration with the Swedish choreographer Johan Inger is extra invigorating, as Friedemann will be revisiting the familiar role of “Prince Désiré”, but with a comedic twist in Johan’s fresh, funny, and contemporary take on the classic fairy tale “The Sleeping Beauty”. Friedemann will be dancing in the world premiere of “Aurora’s Nap” at the Stuttgart Ballet on 25 February, with more performance dates to be announced.

Friedemann is delighted to be named "Dancer of the Year" by Tanz - the industry dance magazine - in recognition of his recent outstanding interpretations of Kenneth MacMillan's Mayerling and Akram Khan's Kaash. This is the second time he has received this prestigious accolade; he was named "Dancer of the Year" for the first time by Tanz in 2010.

For the highly anticipated Ballet Week, Friedemann will be performing five productions from the Stuttgart Ballet’s 2018-2019 season, including Balanchine’s Symphony in C in Shades of White on 16th & 20th July, Akram Khan’s Kaash in Breath-taking on 24th July, John Neumeier’s The Lady of the Camellias on 25th July, Jiří Kylián’s One of a Kind on 27th July, and finally closing with Kenneth MacMillan’s Mayerling on 28th July. Friedemann is looking forward to revisiting these ballet masterpieces and contemporary classics in this annual celebration of dance.

For Stuttgart Ballet’s imminent revival of The Lady of the Camellias to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this ballet masterpiece that was created for the company, Friedemann is relishing his reprisal of the role of Armand Duval, as well as the precious opportunity to work with esteemed choreographer John Neumeier again. Friedemann will be performing on 16th January for the opening night, with subsequent dates to be announced.

Friedemann's first performance of 2018 will be in the Stuttgart Ballet  Encounters double-bill: Jerome Robbin's multi-layered masterpiece Dances at a Gathering – a nuanced distillation of the spectrum of human interaction - and John Cranko’s ode to friendship Initials R.B.M.E. (dedicated to former Stuttgart Ballet principal dancers Richard Cragun, Birgit Keil, Marcia Haydee, and Egon Madsen). Friedemann will perform in both revivals for the opening night on 13 January. Ballet Star Gala in Taipei

Friedemann is delighted to take part in the 11th International Ballet Star Gala in Taipei on 19th & 20th August. This will be his fifth performance in Taiwan, and he will be dancing three John Cranko duets with fellow Stuttgart Ballet star Elisa Bandenes from Legende and Romeo & Juliet and Onegin Mirror pas de deux with Evgenia Obraztsova from Bolshoi Theatre.

PRIX BALLET2000 for Friedemann Vogel

The “Prix MAYA” will be handed out this year to Friedemann Vogel. This prestigious prize, selected by a jury made up of some of the world’s best-known dance critics and specialists will be presented in a Gala performance at the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals, Cannes on 31July 2016. The “Prix MAYA” for outstanding female dancers are being awarded to Diana Vishneva (star of the Mariinsky Ballet, and the American Ballet Theatre) and Aurélie Duponttoile of the Paris Opéra Ballet and the new director of the company).

Friedemann Vogel joins for the second time the Nureyev Ballet Gala at the Vienna Opera House. This year Friedemann will dance "Songs of a Wayfarer" by Maurice Béjart set to Gustav Mahler’s first song cycle together with Robert Gabdullin from the Vienna State Ballet. The Ballet Gala takes place at the Wiener Staatsoper on 28.June 2015.
